Yes, real feedback is valuable if and when we want to hear it. We all know of women who are sticking to their abusive/alcoholic/adulterous situations and pretend it's all good. And the others who are in a good situation, pretending it's terrible. As you said, we need to make it clear that we want to vent and be heard.

Thank you for noticing... The opposite is always available for those who choose. I worked hard to overcome my father and learn to love and respect men. One simple statement like "You have right... and I'm uncomfortable" can bring out the best of men :-)

Yes. He has legal rights. You can't call the police and say "Hello 911, my man is looking at other women, help!" So when you acknowledge his right, you establish a connection. Then you say how you feel and ask for the behavior change. Thats how people bond. You also have a right to leave, if you so desire

Well, if a man does anyything in a soft, mushy, uncertain and self-conscious way, its a big turn off

You are right. It sounds transactional... and if you look at real-life interactions, it actually is. As John Gray talks about how we feel loved, be it through food or the other 5 love languages, which is all about giving and receiving something (compliments, acts of service, gifts, time, or physical touch). I like your politically correct idea, and yet, in real life, even an innocent child or a puppy feels loved when given to, provided for, and taken care of externally. If I'm choosing to be loving, then my acts will cause the response of feeling loved in others, right? So basically, both you and John are right 🙂
